National History
OUR FOUNDERS
In the year of 1987, four women envisioned something greater for the community of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. They wanted to create a precious and special entity that would leave behind a lifelong legacy for individuals that sought the same ideals at Texas Tech. They acknowledged that there was a lack of unity and promotion of leadership among Latina women on their campus. In order to combat this issue, Kappa Delta Chi was born. We recognize these four extraordinary women as our national founders:
Cynthia Garza-Fleitman
Nellie Flores-Ledesma
Irene Montoya
Melissa Montoya.
